The story of the Duchessa di Parma Violetta perfume
History links the city of Parma’s perfume symbol with the Duchess Maria Luigia, Napoleon's second wife.
The violet was particularly dear to the Duchess as a symbol and as a colour. It was Maria Luigia who encouraged the research and experiments of the friars in the Convent of the Annunciation, until they finally succeeded in extracting a particular essence from the violet and its leaves, exactly corresponding to the perfume of the flower.
